Profhilo® is administered through injections positioned just beneath the surface of the skin, typically performed in two sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, as recommended. Upon injection, it quickly disperses within the skin, enhancing hydration without requiring massage and minimising the risk of lumps or nodules. Profhilo® is absorbed within a radius of approximately 2 cm from the injection site, necessitating around 10 injection points to effectively address the entire face. To maintain these results or as advised during your consultation, a course of two treatments can be repeated every six months as needed.

Just like other Botulinum Toxins by preventing the nerves from communicating with the muscles so that muscles cannot contract and cause wrinkles. On a more chemical level when Xeomin® is injected into your muscle it blocks the release of acetylcholine in which stimulates the messages from the nerve terminals that cause the muscles to contract. This results in relaxation of the muscle injected with a decrease in ability to forcefully contract.

Xeomin® does not have to be refrigerated so this makes it easy to distribute- no cold storage needed until it is mixed. Xeomin® is manufactured through Merz who have taken the naturally C. botulinum that produces the toxin associated with accessory proteins (toxin complex), isolated the therapeutic component through the manufactory process, and removed the accessory proteins with the results ending with an amazing product-Xeomin®. Xeomin® just contains botulinum toxin type A only without any preservatives or additives, lessening the likelihood that you will develop antibodies. Not all toxins are the same, and Xeomin® dosages will be different from other botulinum toxins. Xeomin® effects are noticeable from 1-2 weeks post treatment and can last from 3-6months. This is different for Botox® and other brands Botulinum Toxin. It is also important to note that these different types of Botulinum Toxin should not be used interchangeably. Xeomin® is named the purest on the market when it comes to Botulinum Toxin, with no complex proteins around the outside making it less likely you will create a strong immune response. Immune reactions can be triggered if the botulinum toxin is less pure.
